Dustin Kovacic

Dustin represents individuals, companies and other professionals in entertainment transactions and works with clients to protect, manage and develop their intellectual property, overseeing various international trademark and copyright portfolios. Dustin’s experience includes negotiating and drafting entertainment contracts such as music publishing agreements, record deals, touring agreements, music licensing agreements, management deals, and producer agreements, as well as representing clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and pursuing challenges to trademark filings and protection.

With a combined background and degrees in law and music performance, Dustin is passionate about working with songwriters, recording artists, producers, publishers, and other music industry clients on growing the value of their music assets and protecting their interests, whether counseling clients on purchases and sales of music publishing and master recording assets, advising clients on brand development and management, or assisting clients with termination of transfers under the Copyright Act. When he’s not working, Dustin enjoys being the principal pianist for the Nashville Philharmonic and teaching piano lessons at W.O. Smith Music School.

Dustin is a member of: the Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations, the Society of Leaders in Development (SOLID), the Copyright Society of the South, Country Music Association, the Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts, the International Trademark Association (INTA). Dustin all serves on the Music Makes Us Advisory Council, a partnership between Metro Nashville Public Schools and the Mayor’s Office to provide support for Nashville’s public school music programs.
