Sarah A Smith

Sarah’s practice covers a wide range of transactional entertainment, media and intellectual property matters, with particular emphasis on representing recording artists, producers, songwriters and publishing companies.

In addition to her work on traditional music and entertainment industry deals, a focal point of Sarah’s practice is handling high profile copyright and media-related acquisition agreements. Her experience representing both buyers and sellers in this specialized practice area combined with her comprehensive understanding of the complex issues that accompany these transactions uniquely positions Sarah in this space. Sarah has a proven history of maximizing the value of assets for clients and closing deals in record time.

Sarah also represents music industry executives, athletes, professional sports teams, authors, chefs, and photographers in various entertainment matters.

Sarah takes a client-centric approach to her practice, with an emphasis on empowering clients to make informed and strategic decisions. Sarah works with clients to develop and implement legal strategies to address short-term and long-term career goals in an ever-evolving entertainment industry. Whether the goal is to sell copyright assets now or in ten years; maximize brand exposure through sponsorship and endorsement relationships; or to protect assets while staying financially secure as a new artist, songwriter or investor in the entertainment industry, Sarah advises and counsels clients with respect to structuring and negotiating transactions and agreements to achieve those client-specific goals.

Sarah joined the Firm in 2013 after two years with the in-house legal department of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sarah’s experience handling high profile sponsorship contracts and NHL compliance issues continues to serve as an invaluable resource in her current practice.
